Best Adidas Field Hockey Sticks Review 2021 [Updated]

Adidas is one of the world’s premier sports equipment developers. Leaning on their deep experience Adidas is also one of the premium field hockey stick manufacturers. Their latest range of 2021 sticks has been made in partnership with British tech start-up Hypetex and design house Marque Makers. Using Formula 1 technology, Adidas field hockey sticks are powerful, light, and durable.

Some big names in field hockey use Adidas and are suitably impressed with their stick’s performance. 27 years old,  Alan Forsyth, is the new star of Great Britain. The Scotsman has scored 102 goals from 179 appearances so far for the Brits. Alan also plays for Surbiton and won the prestigious UK hockey player of the year award for 2018, following the annual poll by the Hockey Writers’ Club. When asked about Adidas field hockey sticks he said with admiration:

“The  Kromaskin is the best stick I have played with. The new shape is great for control and the power you get when hitting is excellent.”

The Sports Technology Institute Loughborough (STI), which is acknowledged as one of the world’s best in sports research, tested the new Adidas hockey stick against eight others at the highest level. It had up to ‘16% higher coefficient of restitution (COR) across all sticks,’ in the test. this means it will return more energy and the ball will travel at a higher speed. The variation in COR across the five Kromaskin sticks was 70 percent less than the other sticks they tested. This will allow ball speed when hitting to be far more consistent across a whole range of impacts.

Hypetex is an award-winning engineering and design company, that created the world’s first coloured carbon fibre brand. Of course, the beauty of the stick is not the most important factor. However, it’s a great bonus to play with a stick that turns heads.

The dedicated engineers of Hypetex have spent more than 20 years refining materials for optimum performance in Formula One racing. Now they’re applying that knowledge to projects to field hockey sticks of Adidas. The new Adidas Kromaskin field hockey stick is made from Hypetex ‘ Textreme’ material, developed with innovative technology. The hockey stick features a unique colourized carbon fiber outer layer on spread tow materials that reduces fiber damage during production, to maintain the highest structural performance.

The Hypertex team has also come up with another useful innovation. This new design enables players to cut new angles and distribute ‘more effectively’, whether it be threading the clinical pass or pushing aerial. Carbon fiber spread tow technology is used for the outer shell with, ‘ultra-thin carbon tapes’ rather than conventional carbon ply structures. They are woven into tightly packed uniform fibers that reduce carbon defects.

With an eye-catching silver finish, the LX features Touch compound that helps to keep the ball under control at the contact point. Its weight distribution is well advanced compared with a few other premium sticks we tried. The traditional shaped toe is as good at defending as it is taking a hard shot on goal. This premium stick does not come cheap, however, you get what you pay for with this agile leader.
