She isn’t your typical last line of defence.

She comes armed with stethoscopes and thermometers.

And these days, the hospital is her stadium.

Meet 33 -year-old, Hockeyroos Goalkeeper Rachael Anne Lynch, who dedicates herself to excellence, whether it is when wearing a goalkeepers uniform or scrubs.

While the sports fraternity and people world over collectively shelter indoors to protect against coronavirus, Lynch, has chosen to flock to the front lines tending to a burgeoning number of coronavirus infected people.

With the Olympics being postponed, she has moved from the last line of defence to the front line of the fight against coronavirus.

As of Monday, the Hockeyroos were still training together as a team, and then once that finished up, instead of going back to her home town in Melbourne, Rachael went straight to Perth’s Fiona Stanley Hospital where she works as a nurse and applied to work at the hospital’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre.
